Observation of Indian Economy
In Indian Economy, there has been a significant changes. Since the 2001, there has been an industrial boom in IT sector, Jobs have been redesigned from the manufacturing scene of the 1990’s. Jobs descriptions has become more widespread (Scope for larger employment) and enriched has narrowed (Vertical Growth Specified). Eg: In the BPO industry boom, good english speaking skills, and committed working hours is seen. Unlike the previous decade’s public company’s manufacturing industry; where one employee had more widespread tasks and growth was cumulative of various skills and education qualification.
This also changed the career development pattern. Opportunities were easily accessible as the incentives and QWL Standards were achievement oriented. Post early 2000’s we observe penetration of larger MNC work profiles in India. From Call Centers as a BPO, it expanded to various industries, finance, legal and software (making) industry. This highly demanded skills and competence and eventually led to decentralized management structures. Resulting in more autonomous work groups that were more active in smaller pockets tackling specific workflow nods. Planning, coordinating, controlling their activities were done by themselves, keeping in mind the larger organisational goals in mind. Equally responsible for successful and failures in their nodes. By 2015, organisations had more participations in flexible work schedule facilities. This freedom has created more collaborated performance, higher productivity and higher output along with result of high quality. Of Course this has come with boom in technological infrastructure the government has established and robust softwares that are in place to enhance work flexibilities.
Also this can be attributed to participative management, autonomous work groups and flexible work schedules contributes to a closer knit coordinations among the hierarchy.
Job Security, is always a main concern in any employee’s mind. But it’s observed that since 2001 the pay, wages, facilities and amenities has also been booming parallely. The reason being, with larger FDI flowing in and new service providers popping up, special skill sets are in very high demand. This has resulted in a market competition for acquisition and retention of such talented teams and/or individuals; this also has made the role of a supervisor critical catalyst. With competition at a cut throat level, minor conflicts can cause large scale dent in the organisational system. This has pushed for development of judicial principles. Fair, Qualitative Principles of Justice is applied in disciplinary procedures, grievance procedures, promotions, transfers, work assignment, leave etc.
With 2017 coming to almost an end. The PM Modi Government has played pivotal role is bringing in FDI and more multinational industries to India with the “Make in India” Movement.
This needs to have a higher standards of skill sets and performance abilities, and QWL will be more important in its role. After all the participants will after all be human beings.
