Marketing is performed inside a vibrant environment; they are constantly changing and growing. Thus marketing is divided into four different elements that are referred to as Marketing Mix.
1) Product
2) Price
3) Promotion
4) Place (Physical Distribution.)
Also known as the Four “P” of Marketing. (4Ps)
1) Product
The goods and services we intend to sell. This is either produced or is produced as per the feedback or analysis received from how the customers accept the product.
The product should satisfy the wants and the needs.
2) Price
The money value the customer needs to pay. Adequate pricing is a must. This includes costs, profit margin, discounts and offer prices as well as the concept of the right price.
3) Promotion
Selling and Advertising, Communication that highlights the benefits of a product or service, to a target group audience in the targeted segments, in order to persuade them to purchase such products and services. Sales promotion: seasonal discounts/ offers/ highlights etc are communicated via promotion tools.
4) Place
Place refers to the point where a product is sold from, retail counter, wholesale, godown/warehouse. We also term it as Physical Distribution. The idea involves the channel of distribution which reaches out to customer from the manufacturer.
The need for geographical distribution of products via a selection of distribution channel. The optimum method must be identified keeping in mind the need to satisfy the consumer’s satisfaction and profitability to the organization, or optimum use of organization’s resources.
There are more Ps added to this mix as per the stages of organizational growth. But for the simplicity it all starts at the 4Ps
